We need to combine brain and body to get the desired benefits. Exercise with Parkinson’s Disease needs to include new movements and sequences. Yes – walking and golf are great. Keep doing those. Adding new challenges stimulates the brain to reorganise, grow and change its neural pathways, which can positively impact your Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s Exercise for Home
Follow the series of Parkinson’s specific exercise on the Emma G total Health Youtube channel.
This is a series of 12 videos where each is between 1 and 3 minutes long. I demonstrate exercises you could be doing on your own at home every day.
The classes I deliver integrate PD Warrior principles, CounterPunch boxing skills, strength, balance exercises, cognitive games and a bit of laughter to deliver a session that will challenge.
Attending a group class positively impact some of your non-motor symptoms. Exercise can help with depression, anxiety and apathy. Join our classes and be in a room with others who share and understand your situation. You will feel more comfortable, and get all those lovely social benefits as well.
I will be an active member of your PD team, I can fill in the gaps and refer you to suitable services. I will help guide you through this crazy journey.
I want to stress how important exercise is, it’s the gold standard treatment for Parkinson’s Disease – medication and exercise.
Yes this is going to be tough but you can live a good life after diagnosis and you can empower yourself against progression by doing specific daily movement.
